The kola tree is a tall tree growing primarily in the tropical rainforests of West Africa, where its effects have been used by the native inhabitants for centuries. It is cultivated in Nigeria, Sudan, and America, and is also found in Asia. The whole fruits are used, which are referred to as kola nuts. The kola genus includes over 50 species; the most important are pointed kola and glossy kola, whose kola seeds are still highly valued today. Kola nut has up to 3 times higher caffeine content than coffee. Wasn't kola nut by any chance the main ingredient of the original Coca-Cola in the past, with its name derived precisely from the kola nut?
